Under the framework of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the proton is described as a bound system of strongly interacting quarks and gluons, which are collectively referred to as partons. The partonic depiction of proton has been existing for decades and has been quite successful. Nevertheless, a complete understanding of the proton within this picture has not yet been reached, and the multidimensional information is essential for deeper insights. Going beyond the one-dimensional description, the Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) correlate the transverse spatial distribution of partons to their longitudinal momentum distribution and thus provide a three-dimensional picture of the proton. Experimentally, GPDs can be accessed via lepton-induced exclusive reactions, particularly the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) and the Deeply Virtual Meson Production (DVMP). In this presentation, some basics of the GPDs will be introduced, and the recent progress in the GPD measurements of COMPASS and JLab Hall A E12-06-114 experiment will be presented.
