【Final Defence】Process and Important Notes for Graduate Degree Examination Application
Graduate students applying for a degree examination should carefully read the application process and important notes (please be sure to review the information in the PDF below!!)
【Key Reminders for the Degree Examination Application Process】
1. Students must submit the degree examination application form to the department office at least 3 weeks before the examination date.
2. The department office will assist in preparing the degree examination application process documents for students to submit in person.
3. After the decision is made by the Academic Affairs Office, students must immediately return the approved oral examination documents to the department office.
4. Upon receiving the approved documents, the department office will assist in applying for oral examination funding.

Application for Postponement of Thesis Publication: Supporting Documents Instructions
If you decide to postpone the publication of your thesis, when you submit your thesis upon leaving school:
Please download and complete the following [PDF attachment] (1 copy):
1. Application for delayed public release of thesis/dissertation
2. Supporting Documents for Postponed Publication
Submit these documents along with your thesis (separately, without scanning them into the thesis) to the department office to complete the school departure procedures.

Compulsory general education course for all graduate students: Academic Research Ethics Education
All graduate students who enroll to school since fall semester 2022 must acquire total 6 hours free on-line courses of academic research ethics education and receive certificate of completion. While applying for your final defense examination procedure, this certificate of completion must be included into your package of application forms.

【Final Defence】Application Form for Qualification Review of Thesis Committee Members
1. [Doctoral Degree] All committee members must undergo qualification review. Each doctoral candidate requires a separate application form.

2. [Master's Degree] For students defending a thesis in the same field of expertise, a single application form can be used.
A. No Review Required: Committee members who are current or former professors/associate professors/assistant professors at universities, or academicians/researchers/associate researchers/assistant researchers at the Academia Sinica.
B. Review Required: Committee members who are not university teachers or researchers at the Academia Sinica.
3. The application form should be submitted by the student's advisor. When submitting for review, if any committee member is not a full-time faculty member of the department, please include only a CV of no more than one page (electronic format acceptable).
4. The review committee for the department's committee members will be appointed by the department chair in accordance with regulations. -

Department of Physics Graduation and Departure Form (to be completed online, no need to print)
The graduation and departure form must be completed and reviewed by department staff before the department stamp can be affixed to indicate approval for departure.
