From Graphene Spintronics to Non-centrosymmetric Superconductors: a fate of spin and correlations.

Speaker : Associate professor Dr. Denis Kochan (Institute of Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences)
Time : 2024 / 01 / 02 10:30
Room 36567, 5F, Department of Physics, Science Building
The advances in nanotechnology, cryogenics, along with possibilities of stacking of different layered materials surged fabrication of heterostructures that are allowing to probe spin and correlation physics almost with unprecedented precision. In my talk I will focus on proximitized graphene-based hetero-structures and synthetic Rashba superconductors and discuss what kind of proximity phenomena one can enjoy when playing with spin and correlations. Apart of that I will guide the audience through the main theoretical and methodological concepts offering understanding of physics, but also enlightening a path how from first-principles, via effective models one can end up with systematic studies of spectral, transport, relaxation, superconducting and even topological properties.
