Antiferromagnetic Topological Insulator EuSn_2 P_2

The interplay between topology and magnetism has attracted drastic attention since there are plenty of novel magnetic topological phases have been discovered, such as magnetic Weyl semimetals, antiferromagnetic topological insulator(AFM-TI), and quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) insulator. In this work, we identified that EuSn2P2 is an AFM-TI based on density functional theory. The calculation results of the surface states are gapless in (010) and (100) surface, which is consistent with previous theoretical prediction. While in the (001) surface, we found there is another gapless surface state protected by mirror symmetry, that is EuSn2P2 is a AFM-TI as well as a topological crystalline insulator. Apart from the computational evidence above, we also provide the calculation results of spectral function at different termination to compare with ARPES and spin ARPES, our calculation results are highly consistent with experimental data. Our finding reveals that this new material supplies a feasible platform to realize vast magnetic topological phases.
